The palomino stallion Zafferano is truly unique, he has placings in Grand Prix dressage and combines breeding for performance and top sport with excellent temperament and high rideability while the luxurious golden color is the icing on the cake.

In his debute in Grand Prix he got over 66%, as 10 years old (2023). He competed Intermediaire II as 9 year old as well as the prestigious Nürnberger-Burg pokal in Germany. As 8 he won Intermediaire I, as 7 he started Prix St:Georges and was on 3rd place in the Swedish 7-year championships.

He was one of the absolutely highest assessed stallions in all of Germany’s entire stallion performance tests 2016 and the only 3 year old stallion to be approved in the Swedish stallion performance test the same year. For his extraordinairy temperament he was rewarded with maximal 10,0

He is unique not only in Sweden but in the rest of the world with his golden coat as his color is inherited from the legendary Swedish sport horse Pompe, through Regulator and Bernstein, all of them buckskins with pure Swedish sport pedigree, without the slightest trace of kinsky or pony blood that most palominos have somewhere in their pedigree. There is to this date no other palomino stallion in the world with such a respectable performance pedigree for top sport as Zafferano which also is the reason he is accepted by the most respected stud books.

His first offspring are now starting in both dressage and showjumping with very good results thanks to their very high rideability and willingness, inherited by the father Zafferano.

Zafferano is a unique stallion, a Swedish warmblood born 2013 by Zaladin MI – Bernstein. Fully approved in Swedish warmblood, Hannoveraner- and Oldenburg Verband. He has an extraordinary talent for dressage, and is also a very good jumper. He was one of the highest scoring stallions in all 50-days tests in all of Germany 2016 with an average score of 8,40 in dressage and 8 in jumping. For his perfect temperament he got a 10, and for rideability 9,5.

Zafferano is a one of a kind and unique stallion as there are no diluted stallions in the world with a top sport pedigree on both the mother’s and father’s side, and with own results that can match the best solid colored stallions

He has placings in Grand Prix in Germany as a ten year old, and in Intermediaire II as 9. As a 8 year old he has already won an Intermediaire 1, as 7 he started Prix St:Georges and was on 3rd place in the Swedish 7-year championships. He competed as a 6 year old in M-level/ 3rd- level/ Z1-Z2/ Advanced medium with placing. He is super sweet and easy to ride and handle. He is incredibly fertile, with a pregnancy rate over 90 %, most mares get pregnant on the first try. His foals get a good and modern type with beautiful heads and good necks, athletic and correct conformation. They get three extraordinary gaits with great balance and elasticity. Most important they inherit his wonderful temperament.

Zafferano has 50% probability to give a foal with cream gene – i.e. a palomino or a buckskin. He is DNA tested and cannot give black or smokey black foals as his genetic code is eeAACrcr. Besides having a chance for the creme gene Zafferano has also produced foals with a lot of white markings and sabino fenotype with belly spots as well as other exciting colors like rabicano, with coon or skunk tail, ticking and white strands in the mane, flaxen chestnuts with light mane and tail, metallic shine coat and dappled coats.

Zafferano has so far produced 5 crops with a 6th on it’s way 2022.

Many foals have got very good results on foal-championships both in Europe and North America. Many of his 3-year old offspring got awarded with diploma in dressage and jumping. He has so far one approved son: Special edition

Zafferano really puts his type on the foals as they get a beautiful head and exquisite top line with good neck and athletic body. They are incredibly balanced and born uphill with eye catching carisma. He leaves three good gaits with balance, elasticity and rythm with the famous Chagall trot and the offspring usually get even better walk and become more long legged than Zafferano himself. Most importantly, the foals inherit Zafferano’s incredible temperament and many breeders return to produce more foals from Zafferano as they are so pleased with what they get.

His sire Zaladin has won Prix St Georges, he’s by double World Cup finalist Blue Hors Zack out of a Solos Landtinus mare.

Zafferano’s dam is the Elite mare Baby Doll with one offspring competing 140 jumping and one who will compete Prix St Georges this year. Baby Doll’s mother is also an Elite mare with several offspring in 140 jumping and a daughter who has won international Grand Prix dressage.

Zafferano’s grand sire Bernstein can best be described as Sweden’s Donnerhall, with several successful sport horses up to international Grand Prix.
